HOME / Distribution box has reserved wire length 6 - MCF Cable Routing & Structured Cabling
This code is based upon the type of box, wires, wire sizes, wire clamps and conduit fittings. Adjustments are made for the ground wire as you will see in the table below.
There must be at least 6 inches of free conductor at each outlet, junction, and switch point, measured from the point in the box where it emerges from its raceway or cable sheath.
A new sentence has been added to clarify that the free conductor is permitted to be a splice. The addition of this text makes that clear and free of interpretation.
Specifically, the requirement is that at least six inches of free conductor must be left at each outlet, junction, and switch point for splices or device connections. This six-inch measurement
The fiber optic distribution box accomodates up to 6 core fibers and supports outdoor applications within FTTH network system. The type of installation for 6 core distribution box is wall-mounted. The entry
The pigtails can be any length you want. The requirement is for the conductors entering the box not the pigtails. Your mention of length of pigtails and measuring the wire from the connector
Minimum Length of Conductor: At each outlet, junction, or switch point, a minimum length of 6 inches (152 mm) of free conductor must be provided. This length is measured from the point in the box
The document provides details for designing the electrical distribution box and circuits for a residence. It includes specifications for the main circuit breaker such as size, type, and tripping capacity.

You must also have >3" of free wire length beyond the surface of the wall. So if your wire is barely 6" long in a 3.5" depth box, you only have 2.5" beyond the wall surface, whoops!
